Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles now get a 10% discount on charging sessions on the Ionna fast-charging network, as long as the session is started through Mercedes' own channels. Ionna's Mercedes-Benz partner page says drivers can "Save 10% on your session using Plug & Charge or MB.CHARGE Public," and that Mercedes drivers "will receive an automatic 10% discount on all charging sessions on the IONNA network." The discount applies to sessions started with In-App Charging, Plug & Charge, or the MBUX center display. Paying by credit card at the charger does not qualify.

EVChargingStations.com reported on October 6 that Mercedes is the fourth of Ionna's eight founding automakers to offer a discount, after General Motors, BMW and Hyundai.

How the Mercedes discount works

The discount is applied automatically, and no promotional code is needed. Ionna says there is no limit on how many sessions get the discount, and that it is applied on top of any Ionna promotional pricing, such as holiday pricing promotions. After a session, drivers can press the Cost Detail button on the charger to see how much was discounted. MB.CHARGE Public is backed by the driver's ChargePoint account, and Ionna notes that drivers cannot charge on the network without valid payment on that account.

Ionna lists all Mercedes-Benz electric vehicles with CCS or NACS charging ports as eligible. How a driver can start a discounted session depends on the model:

  • Most Mercedes EVs can start a discounted session with Plug & Charge, the Mercedes-Benz app, or the MBUX center display.
  • CLA EVs can only use the Mercedes-Benz app and Plug & Charge.
  • Models that do not support Plug & Charge: the model-year 2025 and 2026 G580e and the model-year 2022 and 2023 EQB and GLE 450e. For these vehicles, Ionna points drivers to the Mercedes-Benz app or the MBUX display.

Ionna also says it supports the use of adapters purchased from a dealer.

Where each founding automaker stands

Ionna, a charging network founded by eight automakers, said in a September 30 update that it had passed 180 live charging sites nationwide, more than doubling the network's size since the start of 2026. The same update said Hyundai and Mercedes-Benz had joined BMW and GM in offering charging discounts through their apps and Plug & Charge, and that the remaining founding automakers would soon join. It also said Plug & Charge had been newly enabled for Volvo drivers, with Toyota and Lexus support anticipated in October.

Hyundai's offer is the closest match to Mercedes'. EVChargingStations.com reported in August that Hyundai and Genesis drivers get an ongoing 10% discount at Ionna stations starting August 19, 2026, applied automatically only when the session is started through Hyundai In-App Charging, either with Plug & Charge or the MyHyundai with Bluelink app. It covers the Ioniq 5 (MY2022 and later), Ioniq 5 N (2025 and later), Ioniq 9 (2026 and later), Kona Electric (2025 and later), Genesis GV60 (2026 and later) and Genesis Electrified GV70 (2026 and later). A temporary extra 10%, for 20% in total, ran through September 30, 2026. Announcing the program, Ionna CEO Seth Cutler said, "We're proud to provide Hyundai customers with a 10% discount across our 150+ locations."

Why the discounts are tied to apps

Ionna chose not to build its own driver app and instead works through apps drivers already use. Its September 30 update said it now supports 19 partner apps, with new integrations for Presto, ChargeHub and EV Connect. The automaker discounts follow the same approach: each one is applied when the session starts in the automaker's app, in the vehicle, or through Plug & Charge.

Ionna has not said whether Toyota and Lexus will also offer a discount. In its October 6 report, EVChargingStations.com listed Toyota with Honda, Kia and Stellantis as the founders that had not yet integrated Ionna into their systems.

What It Means for Drivers

  • Mercedes owners: To get the discount, start the session in the vehicle or the app rather than tapping a card at the dispenser. CLA owners are limited to the Mercedes-Benz app and Plug & Charge.
  • G580e (2025–2026) and EQB or GLE 450e (2022–2023) owners: Plug & Charge will not work on these models, so use the Mercedes-Benz app or the MBUX display. Ionna says to confirm MB.CHARGE Public is active by checking for a "Stations" button in the Charging Dashboard of the Mercedes-Benz app; an "Activate MB.CHARGE Public" button means it is not yet active.
  • Hyundai and Genesis owners: The 20% offer ended on September 30. The 10% discount continues for the eligible models.
  • Toyota and Lexus owners: Ionna anticipates Plug & Charge support this month. No discount has been announced.
  • Honda, Kia and Stellantis owners: Ionna stations are open to you, but no automaker discount has been announced; sessions can be paid by card or through one of Ionna's partner apps.
